Ibanez SC500N-AV  (1998)

Like most other guitarists I started with a concert nylonstring guitar to teach myself a few chords many years ago. What I always liked about them was the sound but I never liked this wide neck which led me to the insight that electric guitars are my thing. But the quest for a guitar that would combine both worlds went on, but not very enthusiastic...
When working for Godin at the Frankfurt Music Fair 2002 I had the chance to check their excellent instruments and when picking up the "Multiac ACS Slim Nylon" there it was: the playability of an electric, together with nylon string tone. And no feedback !  So I started to check the market for one of these but couldn't find an used model. So the quest nearly became forgotten (again) until my friend Oliver bought one of these Ibanez SC500-N guitars in "natural" finish in 2003. I liked the playability of these even better and so I went for a SC500N, too. By the way, the name stands for "Saber Classic, Nylon". The finish is called "Antique Violin".
The neck has 22 frets and is bolt on. The guitar also features the "All Access Neck Joint" (AANJ) which makes playing on the upper frets very easy.

The 2000 catalogues says: "The SC500N is a nylon-string version. Its 43 mm neck width of SC neck gives the ultimate comfortability for playing as a nylon-string guitar."

The guitar has a hexaphonic piezo pickup system with volume, bass and treble controls. The battery can be inserted on the back comfortably. Sound ? Amazing !
