PRS Custom 24 (1991)
A nice Custom 24 with the optional "Special" package: wide-thin neck, tremolo-up routing and tone control. Luckily the previous owner changed that to a sweet switch...
Another pre-95 guitar that has all the
specs that make them more desirable than the newer models: the fretboard
material is brazilian rosewood (not indian), it has the small neck heel, the
birds are made of real abalone. And, of course, it's handmade !
It's not that I think that the newer, CNC-made guitars are worse than the older,
completely handmade ones. But I think that the price should be way lower for
such a guitar. Production costs are lower and most of the time, the woods are
not as nice as they used to be.
It has all the specs that are common to the Customs that were produced in the early 90's:
- Mahogany body with a carved maple top
- Bird inlays
- Set in mahogany neck with a brazilian rosewood fingerboard
- PRS Trem with lock pegs (chrome)
- PRS HFS and Vintage Bass pickups
- Volume control and 5-position rotary switch
- Sweet switch
