PRS Custom 24

PRS Custom 24 (1990)

I bought this guitar in late 1999 and it's excellent.... The pic here doesn't do it justice... really amazing. The fretboard is very vivid and a joy to play. The sound is powerful with an infinite sustain.

It has all the specs that are common to the Customs that were produced in the late 80's:

- Mahogany body with a carved maple top
- Bird inlays
- Set in mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard
- PRS Trem with lock pegs (chrome)
- PRS HFS and Vintage Bass pickups
- Volume control and 5-position rotary switch
- Sweet switch

The top on this one is uncommon, most Customs have a flame top. The finish is "royal blue". All the time I thought it to be "whale blue" but it is not...  Also it has no natural binding. The "Sweet Switch" cuts high frequencies so it actually sounds "smoother". It was basically made for guitarists who use wireless transmitters that usually have more treble than a regular cable. The back is also finished in blue, most Customs were finished black at that time.

This guitar was supposed to become a 10-Top (indicated in the routing for the bridge pickup), but doesn't have a stamp at the back of the headstock. Well, for me it doesn't matter, I think it's beautiful ! And it has what many unplayed collector's PRS guitars lack: TONE !! This used to be my main guitar for several years and I still enjoy playing it, of course. By the way: the neck of my Dolphin Custom was shaped exactly like this one here!
